        Wrong way round. Brits say “Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year”. Americans tend to say “Happy Christmas or Happy Holidays”.

        I suspect "Merry Christmas" was foisted upon us by Clement Moore via his poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas.
