Pelosi says she is “shaken” by the resignation of Mattis. What should “shake” her more: that withdrawing troops is seen as such a radical notion that it should prompt resignations

No. That's what happens when we have a strong President who told us 2yrs ago he was going to pull us out. #MAGA

This is so depressing. There is no excuse for people not to know that the presence of US troops in Syria represents an illegal, WW3 risking military occupation that has been sanctioned by neither the UN nor Congress.

That's certainly a legitimate point, though I'd argue Mattis is probably furious at how Trump did it. Granted he was tired of the bureaucracy but still losing Mattis is not a good thing. 2.000 troops in Syria is an irrelevancy in the grand scheme of things.

I agree. We would spend the next 5-10 years slowly removing troops from a country we are illegally occupying and from a country we have been in for 17 years now.

Lie about & increasing troops illegally the whole time? Crickets. Withdrawal of said troop. A massive firestorm by the people who help with the previous lies in the first place. One should remember this when those same journalist and pundit feign outrage about Fake news.

Big fan of peace and protecting our troops. But a competent leader would negotiate a deal in exchange for USA drawing down our troops. Ideally protecting Kurds. Not just give up and walk away, making no effort to benefit USA’s long term interests and allies. Cui bono?
