The @washingtonpost cannot be pleased either, particularly given how epically bad their timing turned out to be with this major piece they ran last week:https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2018/world/syria/us-troops-in-syria/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.6b0c641ec542 …

All true but stop calling them liberals and centrists. Both terms help the propagandists cover up the long path; 50 years in a row of rightward movement.
-
At best they can charitably be called center right but that Overton Window has shifted so far right that "center right" slams up hard against hard right

Well, say what you will about Trump, but it is nice to know that the people who claimed that we would be greeted with garlands of flowers in Baghdad have found a new party.

You think there's no way that Russian influence have something to do with this ? We've seen speculation about much crazier stuff. I'm ready to keep an open mind but denying it 100% seems unwise.
-
I think Russia would like nothing more than having the US incur as many Vietnams as possible.

If we withdraw again and leave these two countries like we did in Iraq ISIS will return and once again the entire region will become destabilized and attacks throughout the world will increase exponentially. We must learn from our past mistakes!!!
-
these are our past mistakes. We were arming/funding the same extremists you're concerned about in Syria. And we left Iraq upholding our end of an agreement, one we tried to back out of until a rape scandal involving our troops killed any chance. We are a destabilizing force there

Just because it's the right thing to do doesn't mean Trump isn't doing it as part of some corrupt plot.

Just because Trump’s doing the right thing doesn’t mean it’s part of a corrupt plot. Maybe, just maybe, he’s doing it on the merits.

Abdicating our commitments to our allies compromises our intelligence and support from our allies, creates a vacuum for authoritarian regimes, fuels ISIS recruitment, and jeopardizes our safety. As for Russia, you need to wake the hell up.pic.twitter.com/Va4RsoGjPV
