The much-heralded "adults in the room" like Mattis always ended up advocating for more troop deployments, rudderless interventionism, and general militaristic belligerence. There was nothing "adult" about it, just folly.

Trump seized the anti-war position while Hillary's Dems were working to win the neocon and war profiteer DC faction. It's not a natural balance between parties but the Dem establishment is heavily invested in maintaining it. It's very lucrative for Dem politicians.

Neocons have not been right about any war since WWII. The only change in the outcome when we've stayed longer has been higher body counts. IF Kennedy had listened to the adults in the room--the military experts--a lot of us might not be here.

Civilians need to take control of the government back. Of all the worrying things Trump has done, stacking his office with Generals was the most dangerous.

But they were still a crucial balance to Trump's unprincipled insanities. I just worry about who he will replace them with.

Some parts of your statement are demonstrably false (always more interventionism), others are presented as a statement of fact when they are statements of judgement and not argued for (the theses advocated were folly).
