What are these "wrong reasons," and why do they matter if the outcome is desirable?

Sigh. Because some of us are bothered if a president uses foreign policy to distract from domestic crisis and corruption. And because some of us think there are plenty of unanswered questions about Trump’s ties to Russia. And because this isn’t how you run a government.

What's your evidence for this withdrawal being the product of some corrupt Russian deal, other than typical frenzied media speculation? Are you aware Trump expressed reticence about long-term military commitment in Syria all throughout the 2016 campaign?

are you aware that Trump is a serial liar? Do you follow the news headlines? Do you not wonder: why Syria now, why Afghanistan now?Are you really so naive that you believe Trump really doesn’t like Middle East wars when he’s ramping up for a monumental conflict with Iran? Sigh.

You say there are “wrong reasons” afoot, but can’t name them or provide evidence for them. You make a procedural complaint (“this isn’t how you run a government”) without acknowledging that following established protocols is how these wars got so entrenched in the first place.

Rep. Barbara LeeVerified account @RepBarbaraLeeWhile I agree we must bring home our troops as soon as possible, there is no plan in place to address the humanitarian disaster in Syria or advance negotiated peace. We MUST end these unauthorized wars, but the manner in which we do it matters. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/trumps-decision-to-withdraw-us-troops-from-syria-startles-aides-and-allies/2018/12/19/80dd8ab2-03b2-11e9-b5df-5d3874f1ac36_story.html?utm_term=.299c0e7f9e0c …12 replies 5 retweets 110 likes -

I don’t see Barbara Lee intimating a corrupt Russian plot, as you did, or wondering about some convoluted “distraction” theory, as you did. But I agree with her about the need to end unauthorized wars. Not sure if you do.

Not sure if I do? Grow up. Some of us oppose illegal wars *and* oppose criminals and racists sitting in the White House. You should try doing both sometime...

Some of us also have the capacity to recognize potentially useful developments in curtailing America’s epically destructive, years-long misadventure in the Middle East without repairing to bogus cable news tropes like “Trump is distracting from X.” Give it a shot sometime.

If you wanna have faith in an ‘anti war’ Trump administration which has escalated Obama’s drone war, increased the number of civilian casualties in both Iraq & Syria, and is now busy laying the groundwork for a new war with Iran, be my (clueless) guest. Good night.

There’s no “faith” involved here, just evidence. And you provided none for your theories. Have a good night.
