Good point. We haven't even been told how many troops are there. Some say 500, some say 4,000, some say more. Who knows, who cares? The unspoken assumption is that the natural state of things is war, the US must have troops scattered all over the world, peace is an aberration.

That's why we have been successful. The less everyone knows about our deployments the better.

This is true, but the coverage of the Syrian conflict has been abysmal in any case

OT but can you imagine what this country could be like if we spent the money here instead of on troops and bombs over there - may we should take some lessons from the Chinese who spend much less on military and more on factories, technology, partnerships with biz, etc.

The wave of experts after avoiding crisis in Syria 95% time is frustrating too. I apologize. What really gets to me is apathy + lack of precaution. It exhorts people to keep doing what they’re doing. With econ motives, accelerators + soc/ ideological fabric baked in = disaster.

It’s a complete farce. Last week the grumblings were about no cong approval for Syria involvement. The damage to media credibility is largely self inflicted and will last beyond Trump

People should be outraged, don't you understand what Trump is doing is evil, he's allowing Erdogan to massacre our Kurdish allies in Syria, our presence is the only thing protecting them from Turkish onslaught, you should care, you should be angry, Trump's helping Erdogan be evil

You certainly do learn a lot about people's true views and motivations whenever they react to a Trump policy.
