But doesn't he have a point about Russian influence over the region? (An honest question, I know very little)

Russia is in Syria by invitation. The US has no legal right to be there. Russians have warned Israel that any more attacks on Syria will result in retaliation on Israeli bases. Good time to get out of there.

It's the establishment's trap. Anytime Trump decides to be less hawkish, "oh he must be doing this because Putin has a pee-pee tape on him".

I just overheard someone say “This is Trump’s wag the dog”?! So getting our troops out of war is akin to escalating one??

Imo ISIS has been defeated by the Syrian army and Russia, so those crying that the US leaving will allow them to flourish are mistaken.
-
Pretty certain the US Created and funded ISIS anyway and everyone but ISIS and Netanyahu should be happy for us to quit that wasteful and destructive expense just for mercenary war profiteers. Put those funds into US matters at home: start with veterans I hope, and infrastructure

It seems to me, also, that if he is giving anyone a gift it's Erdogan, since he's basically winking at Erdogan going in and slaughtering our Kurdish erstwhile allies now that they've served their purpose
-
Kurds have to fight their own battle, even if they are on our side. Even if it's ironic, because the US has been involved in every middle East war for almost 3 decades.

You adroitly pointed out how these Neo-Cons think.

I’d like to see videos of how Syrians are reacting to this. Something tells me they won’t be mourning.
-
OMG they will be in dire straights. They are most likely trying to go into hiding. The Kurds have always been slaughterd. They need us.

@POTUS has rightfully given up on the Bush doctrine as applies to Syria, and subsequently taken up by Clinton/Obama although the latter was to enrich political friends with regime change as the justification.@realDonaldTrump is now directly challenging NeoCons in the swamp.Thanks. Kristol would never debate someone like Tracey under the guise that Michael is beneath him. Kristol will debate people like Bill Maher because he is a neoliberal hack with a platform that can showcase him & ultimately Maher and Kristol have a lot more in common than a first name.

The neo-con perspective includes ownership and control of the sovereignty of every nation that gets in the way of their personal interests. They project their personal preferences onto the needs of our national security. It's madness.

Even if it were, what do they think Putinis going to do with it besides go broke trying to prop up Assad and stabilize it? Giving Syria to Putin is about the worst thing we could do to him
