Lest anyone think it’s just confined to cranks on Twitter, the “Bernie got help from Russia” or “Bernie is soft on Putin” attacks are going to come hard and fast from ostensibly “respectable” sources. Do not underestimate the spellbinding stupidity of this political environment

Michael while I understand your point and frustration with such a likely scenario, what can you and all other progressive media voices do to ensure such a narrative doesn't end up robbing the US of its most promising chance for significant political change in the last 50 years?

Bernie himself said that he saw unusual Russian online support of him in April '16. (Same month got mysterious $10M in donations from one zip code in DC never explained btw). Said NOTHING until Sept '16.

If Bernie, somehow, manages to wrangle the nomination from the Dems (which is extremely doubtful), Trump will destroy him.

Unfortunately you might be right. Who would you put up against trump instead? I don’t think Hillary would win either

I’d say a little more on the Left but yeah, all over the spectrum. Hard to think of an analog.

Imagine what will happen if Bernie gets elected (through a miracle, because the Dems won't let that happen) and tries to break up the big banks. "Putin puppet is trying to destroy the US economy" will be the 24/7 prayer on all TV networks.

Given that when asked by New York Daily News how he would break up the banks he stuttered & stammered & couldn't answer, the miracle would be if he actually broke up said banks. Dem voters wouldn't let him be the nominee in 2016 & we won't in 2020. Not the DNC, voters. 4 million.

Russia isn't a communist country anymore Ron. So your claim is bizarre. But do explain why Bernie keeps voting against sanctions for Russia. 1st the Magnitsky Act, then more recently when they attacked our election. What's your non sequitur to that question?

A Wikileaks team traveling through Central Asia in "Miediastan" read diplomatic cables aloud, including one about a State Dept. plan to pay Central Asian outlets to print articles favorable to the US in Russian, the foreign language that most Central Asians speak. @SenSanders
