Bernie Sanders has a national political infrastructure, locked-in support from significant portions of the electorate, and an alternative media ecosystem that is intensely devoted to him. The fact that his 2020 chances are being so heavily downplayed is borderline delusional

I'll have an essay out soon that elaborates on these points

It’s not a matter of ageism, but actuarial tables are a real thing, and likelihood of dying in office or becoming to sick to continue is a real consideration. At the very least, he needs a strong Presidential-worthy VP candidate who could step in if that happens.

Yes but especially in contrast to Trump the difference is not that significant.

@RandPaul filibustered for over 10 hours to stop the bombing of "terrorist" without due process. He also filibustered the patriot act, called out mike pompeo for being a hawk and destroyed Lindsay Graham's unconstitutional behavior. Rand Paul is more of a warrior than Bernie - End of conversation

But Biden, who is a year younger than Sanders, is young enough to run?

Attacks on Bernie for being pale, male, and stale, will result in improving poll numbers. Unexpectedly!

I would rather have a year or two of a good president who dies in office than 4-8 of a corporate tool who throws us & anyone else Wall St. demands into a wood chipper.

Actually Bernie will be 80 years old in 2021 at the start of his presidency. Trump turned 70 during his first year in 2016. That's a 10 year difference. That's a big difference.
-
Better get a good VP then

There are many POCs that support Bernie. If you researched him, you would see his policies help poor, POCs the most. Yemen resolution? Helping poor POC. Amazon wage hike? Helping poor POC. Michael meant Bernie will be attacked solely for being an old white male. That’s not right.

With the right's favorite cry of oppression being that they're "unfairly" called racist, identity tactics could actually get Bernie some of the votes from the right that the Dems endlessly pursue in vain. Same thing goes for the "NRA supported him" smear.

"Ageism is very offensive!" i supported sanders in 2016. i really, really hope that he decides to put the weight of his name, fame, organization, and infrastructure behind a younger candidate with similar leftist positions.
