I'm happy as anyone that political sentiment appears to have shifted against the Saudis, but I have a gnawing sense much of it is rooted in partisan opportunism and shallow anti-Trumpism. Needs to be converted into something deeper and structural to have real long-term impact

The problem with accepting it when it’s based on partisan grandstanding is that it can/will quickly change. Leaving supporters in the cold based on the political winds movement. Since such people don’t really mean it so they wouldn’t defend the policy if things get tough.

Doesn't seem like that'll happen. Democrat voters still actively deny that Obama admin started the Yemen conflict, despite the facts. It is 100% anti-Trumpism.

The idea that it will continue once the "I am against all things Trump" crowd fades away goes against 40 years of Saudi /American relations

It would be a good idea if the BDS people joined forces with anti-Saudi govt. movement. That way both forces can deflect accusations that they are either anti-Semitic, anti-Muslim/pro-Israel, pro-jihad. It could a united force against US entanglement in the Middle East

On a cursory glance, it looks like this Yemen resolution or whatever has a huge loophole in that it allows the US/Saudis to continue backing the Yemen War if al-Qaeda is involved. This seems like an easy workaround since the US uses AQ all the time to justify invasion/bombing

Selling out the way he did shamed the nation making anti-Trumpism baseline patriotism at this point. The man has been beyond any sensible defense for a long time. The bar can only be lowered so much. Yemen’s starving children like Iraq’s didn’t move hearts minds in America.

It would be more accurate to say that Turkish intelligence had its information operation well prepared, while the Saudis were caught flat-footed. American media are mostly leak stenographers, not reporters; feed them a narrative they like, they’ll print it.
