"Don't hand over potentially incriminating materials to law enforcement officials seeking to charge you with crimes" sounds like a blaringly obvious maxim, but it's astounding how many people fail to realize this until it's too late

There is irony in Mueller's indictees being guys who initially believed there was something inherently dignified about "cooperating" with law enforcement, only to find it backfired spectacularly. Lots of poor and minority people could've provided them with insight on this matter

Law-and-order types often learn the hard way that "if you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to fear" is B.S.
-
Yeah, half the Mueller indictees seem to be guys who believed talking to federal prosecutors was inherently virtuous

You can't be entrapped into lying to the feds. You either lie or you don't lie, there is no "I was tricked into lying". Mueller didn't use a time machine and magically trick him into corresponding with with Wikileaks a few years ago.
-
Not remembering forwarding an email two years ago doesn't not constitute a "lie', He never corresponded with Wikileaks. Corresponding with Wikileaks is not illegal.

When you are speaking with Feds, they already have you. The only thing you say is that yo don't remember clearly and that you have a 5th amendment right.

It worked for Hillary....

Completely agree. This video clip tells you why you should say as little as possible to the authorities, even if you’re innocent:https://youtu.be/d-7o9xYp7eE

Even better-never talk to the FBI without a lawyer. They can try & likely convict you of lying to them, & their definition of "lying" is vast. They can & will lie to you with impunity. BUT exercising your 5th amendment rights gives you the ability to avoid talking to them.

I agree and have been telling people this for a while. Always get legal representation before doing anything. Just seems like common sense at these levels (Mueller), but people think they have nothing to hide so no problem. Wrong!

Is he confusing a perjury trap and entrapment?

My God, it’s almost as he’s a 72-year-old non lawyer!

Ever. Period.

If you’re under investigation by the federal gov never ever think they’re friendly. I’ll never forget in an IRS audit them telling me a payment from one company I owed to another I owed wasn’t a valid expense, & owed taxes on it, but I still had to claim it as income in Corp 2.

Hillary had the best lawyers .... deny delay and delete. Also, get the President to publicly announce you did nothing wrong BEFORE the investigation starts ... Like Obama did for Hillary. But that wasn’t weird at all!

I don't understand the theory. He handed evidence of crimes committed to law enforcement and that's entrapment? I don't think that's how this works.
-
Crimes? Is that why he was offered probation to plead to a single count of perjury?
