Just to be clear, there are legitimate criticisms to be made of Gabbard, but the "she palled around with a brutal dictator!!!!" talking point -- which unites hordes of angry liberals and neocons against her -- is pure propagandistic nonsensehttps://twitter.com/mtracey/status/1065302784583626758 …

The bipartisan hatred of Tulsi Gabbard is so illuminating. She opposed US military adventurism in Syria, advocated diplomacy instead, and this will forever be an unforgivable offense for the hordes of angry liberals and neocons who descend on her even when she criticizes Trump

The reason she met with Assad was to pursue non-military options for reducing conflict in Syria. Trump "pals around" with MBS in order to continue arms sales and exacerbate regional conflict. There is no moral parity whatsoever between the nature of these "meetings."

Similarly, some tried to use the "pals around with dictators" line to discredit Trump's meeting with Kim, which is *also* of a qualitatively different nature than his sucking up to MBS. The ultimate purpose of the Kim meeting was to reduce conflict. So it's not morally comparable

It may be worth noting that the "pals around with" phrase was basically introduced into contemporary political rhetoric by Sarah Palin. Liberals latching onto it are telling us something about them - their shallowness, their dumbness, and their disingenuousness.

The problem with Gabbard's meeting with Assad is that she denied he was responsible for chemical weapons attacks on his own citizens. That removes any moral positives from what Gabbard was doing. I agree with her stance on MBS, but she shouldn't make apologies for Assad.

Only in 2 cases(3 locations)since 2012 did OPCW hold the Syrian government liable. In these cases: no opcw at the site(too dangereous because jihadi area), “evidence”/social media footage provided by jihadis only , no chain of custody/samples provided by jihadis.

Perhaps. But both are examples of abject failure, and that fact is what folks are likely referencing.

It all depends how directly you want things to be. Obviously some people believe alliance with MBS is the path to greater peace. Most presidents over the last century believed this to be true.
