This is a fact free “immigration drives down labor” in a RW rag w/ no mention of how immigration controls themselves making workers exploitable (more prone to sacking or eviction, retaliatory reports to immigration control from bosses/landlords), nor even of outsourcing.

She makes an explicit argument for employers to be responsible for border enforcement, this is exactly the kind of policy that led to the 'Windrush scandal' in the UK - i.e. 40+yr UK residents being denied medical care, suspended from employment etc.

As long as they are both independent thinkers, I don’t care what broad label is put on them, or how they might self-identify as such.

realllllllly curious how @NathanJRobinson and @curaffairs would respond to/reconcile this piece with their (great) article on Tucker Carlson; Current Affairs mostly handwaved this critique away as racist, with no acknowledgement of the legitimacy of econ argument

These issues prevent the joining together of working class people in both parties who have more in common than they are allowed to admit. Elites purposely divide on cultural issues.

This is a function of Dems having no clear policy platforms and merely being a racket to raise billions of dollars from billionaires to distribute to corrupt politicians. Reps can propose ANYTHING and it will be superior to the Dems' NOTHING.

Ted Kaczynski - aka the unabomber - perfectly described the struggle of the left in his infamous short manifesto. Alas so few will actually read it (because good people don’t read the writings of a terrorist as a matter of principle) and get a chance to understand.

The Left decided proletariat was too religious, too armed and too provincial after the Hard Hat Riots. Since then emphasis on cultural Marxism and identity politics and no longer the party of the working man.
