150k more votes in 2018 than Hillary in 2016, after spending 70+ million in election, is fairly astounding?

Uh, yes. It's without any historical precedent.

Everybody moving to Texas and voting for policies that created the reason they left their previous state.

Not surprising... When I lived there the population changed so much in just a couple years w all the corps & people moving in from CA and other (more liberal) places...rare that I ran into a native Texan. Unintended consequences of importing labor/biz from other states.

GOP doesn’t even try in big urban cities. Token appearances won’t cut it anymore

Does anybody take into account how bloodied Cruz was left by the 2016 primaries? Even here in TX, people who once supported him flipped on him because of Trump's persuasion. Consider this may have been a weak, broken GOP incumbent who still beat the rising star.

Californians are leaving that state in droves, cause it's failing, and bringing that failure and their failed politics to Texas. Net migration 2005-2015pic.twitter.com/QsmPVWfT2V

The point of this article - that the vote change is due to urbanization vs rural -misses the mark. Every Democratic operative has always eyed Texas for a switch due to immigration.

The problem is that it will never switch but I am sure the 10s of millions spent every other year could have been put to better use!

Of course, the fair response is "How much of this is a shift vs. fact that Ted Cruz is a uniquely unlikable individual who was substantially outspent by a challenger who also received months of fawning national media attention?" Will the circumstances ever be more favorable?

The same media that sold Trump (per HRCs plan) is the same media that shapes “rising star” politicians for public consumption like Beto. Obama endorsed Beto
Ocasio-Cortez voted for Cuomo & honored McCain so ...
