The funny thing about Acosta's lawsuit is that no First Amendment principle was actually strengthened or affirmed by its resolution, if anything it affirmed that criteria for inclusion in the WH press corps is totally arbitrary, which we already knew because Acosta is included

If Acosta has a right to go to WH press conferences than so does Alex Jones.

Julian Assange and WikiLeaks prove that the world's press doesn't like press freedoms if they're the ones being scooped. That pettiness is why they don't defend him, just CNN. It's interesting that the one journalist not doing it for money has had the greatest effect on history.

and the ironic/sad thing about Acosta and all who claim to support him is that they do this while #JulianAssange is stuck in the Ecuadorian embassy & ganged up on by those who see @Wikileaks & #PressFreedom as damaging to their paradigms of control over others.pic.twitter.com/34LtXdS8HH

The really ironic thing is that Assange was an accomplice of one of the most censorious dictators, @MashiRafael and Assange never cared about the lack of freedom in Ecuador because he considers it an insignificant country

rather than asking interns to reclaim mic from Acosta, why doesn't White House overprint mic when over time with loud Trump theme music: You Can't Always Get What You Want.

No. He's a self-promoting corporate stenographer and propagandist, and not a very good one at that.

And, if I’m understanding it correctly, if the WH comes up with concrete rules about the press corp, @acosta acting up again could realistically be handled the same way as it was and be completely legally justified.

It was an administrative law principle of procedural fairness. Nothing to do with free speech. I guess most people don't know the difference between the two and the media will not educate them as to the difference. Sad

yeah but not arbitrary for the WH, is the point. i mean, it's good to clear these things up, we need to do more of this, so we can all be on the same pages. conventions have to be refreshed, just like any other kind of dynamic memory device.

Funnier still was how quickly it moved from a law suit threat to court resolution. The "wheels of justiced" were highly greased in this case!

Funny we now have to formally list the rules and can no longer act without decorum and respect for the office without the written rules. How about doing the right thing? Glad that Jim (Abilio) now has to behave civilly. Only question is can he?
