The danger in making Acosta out to be the new martyr for press freedom is that the public will be less able to recognize *legitimate* threats to press freedom, such as the prosecution of a publisher who has revealed more genuine secrets than the entire WH press corps put together

Assange isn’t much of a journalist, and coordinating the release of information with foreign governments to foment election chaos isn’t the work of a legitimate publisher.

No, legitimate publishers only coordinate with their own governments. Allegeged coordination quite doubtful.

WH should assign Acosta a seat on the back row and never call on him again. Simple fix. And the Fox guys should occasionally ask him to hold a boom mic.

Yeah, Asange and Wikileaks are shit now but they have done more good work than most mainstream outlets. And even if he published the email stuff just to harm a political enemy, so what? Harming political enemies is a legitimate function of journalism

The MSM has done more to threaten free speech the past few years than the government. Threatening to dox a private citizen for a meme, and lobbying tech monopolies to shut down alternative news sources.

Fox News and others saw this as a slippery slope, as free speech is strongly protected and valued in the US. Not as legitimate vs illegitimate.

Acosta and the bulk of clowns in the WH press corps don't reveal anything but credulity, hubris and contempt. There's nothing informative or useful about anything they do.

Yes and these theatrics are part of the scheme that steals our critical thinking skills. Right up there with the MSM's ploy of having us believe there are 2 sides to a single truth.

Acosta’s case had nothing to do with ‘press freedom’ and everything to do with due process. That’s why the White House decision was reversed. It had nothing to do with freedom of speech, etc. When the White House follows proper due process, they will revoke Acosta’s access.
