What right wing argument though

There's a vast right-wing literature out there on the flaws of corporate welfare. You might disagree with its premises, but it exists

There's no reason the Left and the Right can't be united against Corporate Welfare for Amazon. There is PLENTY of room for agreement here.

It isn't a question of left or right. New York leaders understand how local tax base is created and they want the jobs, even if they are shitty jobs. Therefore they put together a state incentive package which is a great idea if one understands how tax base is actually created.

NYS and NYC are basically closed for business. They have pull shit like this just to get companies to think about moving to NY. Amazon will leave once the breaks end just like every other company has done.

But cities/state governments were free to compete for the hq. And they did! They all were offering some tax benefit package for amazon. Because it turns out there’s a tangible benefit to having a huge infusion of construction and high-paid employees in your locale!

Exactly, a large business creates opportunities for thousands of people. It will boost local businesses, add value and generate revenue. I wonder how much of tax collection actually gets utilized for the development and how much of it gets spent over the upkeep of government.

Why did Bernie Sanders rant against Walmart yesterday and not Amazon?
-
He has all the companies that get the most in corporate welfare on rotation. Unfortunately, there are plenty.

If I were mayor of one of these locations I'd swagger in and say "No we aren't giving you tax breaks. Are YOU good enough for US?" It'd be worth it just to see his face.

Then they wouldn't come to NY.

Since Amazon is getting such huge tax breaks, they should not be allowed any H1B visas. With the money they are saving they can hire green employees and train them, and also beef up internship programs.
