It was incredibly disturbing to watch municipalities (including my own) bow and scrape to try and woo their corporate overlords. It's just icing on the cake to watch them choose the two of the most elitist, already over-crowded, and over-priced locations in the entire US.

In my hometown of Rochester local companies used to do this same thing. Oh, I'm not sure I can build this profitable location that is key to my business plan unless I get x tax break....it worked like a charm. The bigger problem is that local governments are suckers
