In other words, if the Democrats want to get their agenda through Congress, they will need to come up with a policy profile that appeals to the smaller states, which is exactly why we have a Senate.

Your shtick is only appealing to Trumpists; read your comments. You're capable of much better analysis than just pointing out Democrats' flaws. And comes off even weaker when the Democrats have just taken back the House & a slew of state-level offices.

"to some extent” doing a lot of work in this tweet.

It seems like the American system at the minute is just people voting one side who then do nothing for them so they vote for the other who also do nothing for them and just repeating that endlessly.

They made some gain in local races and State leg/AG bc massive non sustainable dollar flows by Steyer, Bloomberg, et al. All that was aimed at Trump. D weakness outside coasts will return.

A corollary: the Dems need to come to where the mainstream of the people are, and not stamp and shriek and mob and demand the people come to where they are. That is how they would reclaim power, if they choose to do so.

The population is to the left of the Democratic Party. Gerrymandering, voter suppression, the mainstream of the party not standing for anything and serving corporate interests and thus stoking voter apathy, etc. makes it look otherwise.

Democrats seem deluded that 2008 was a referendum on the popularity of their platform instead of the knee jerk (but justified) reaction to the financial crisis it was.

The total failure of the Democrats post-2000 to address immigration in any serious way doesn't help either.

Yes they should of given them all citizenship.

The Democrats haven't lost due to "political failures", they've lost to a GOP propaganda machine that has abandoned reality and merged with a political party. Millions of cranky old boomers were brainwashed by Fox and Breitbart and Infowars. Conspiracies are mainstream now.

I realize that you were probably in diapers in the early 2000's but there has been a very clear and deliberate progression of the quantity and absurdity of the utter lies that come out of conservative media. They've also inoculated their viewers against all other media.

Thats a fancy way of saying the Dems suck at getting voters to vote for them.

Exactly. People are talking as if it's impossible to have a Democratic Senate when in the recent past we had a filibuster-proof majority. The only things holding us back are horrendous Centrist policies that people hate.
-
Exactly. Democrats need to push Socialism and violence much harder. The voters love that.
