There's a lot to dislike about Trump, but I give him credit for driving a wedge between free market fundamentalists who ran the GOP & their less affluent supporters. This is an important development with long-term ramifications. The party led by "haves" & "have mores" is finished

Wisconsin was barely Trump and since the election was was becoming an incredibly hard state for Rs. That he almost pulled it off was pretty amazing actually.
-
It was considered a safe blue state before 2016.

I'm in college at UW-Madison. Walker handpicked 16 of the 18 members of the Board of Regents, essentially a policy committee for the UW System, and they've done *enormous* damage. Ironically, Tony Evers is one of the two members he didn't pick.

Everyone knows the Koch brothers agenda was unpopular and the only way for the right to win is Trumpian with immigration restriction and culture war.
-
Democrats should work on fixing immigration. If they can do that, they will take away a lot of power from the GOP

Even after neoliberal extremist policies failed in Kansas, Walker was still the poster child, he was the corporatocracy's princling. It's a big deal but Trump is eating ink and airwave to stop the dust settling and people examining the political landscape

It's the anti-labor conservatism that got him. Organized labor has issues, no doubt, but it's a terrible mistake not to share the massive amounts of wealth created in the last several years with the working people. Globalists are obsessed with reinstating serfdom.

To the extent that it is real, I liked the anti-labor part. Public sector unions rule like gangs in California.

Maybe 3 terms was just too many.

Well, being anti public unions is *sort of* like being anti labor. He was probably for people working (labor) and less for the future killing, bankrupting, unfireable kind of "labor."

Did you know that he and Paul Ryan took out papers together to run for POTUS and VP? Yeah, sneaky.

Or the voters thought 2 terms were enough. Maybe they just had Walker fatigue and wanted to try something new.

Not really considering how many failed efforts there were to drive him out of office during his run. He just hit his expiration date.

McLaughlin would have covered this angled...might have even brought up Brownback.
