Bernie Sanders said on CNN tonight that if Dems pass Medicare for All, Trump will sign it. Maybe so, but cooperating with Trump in any respect is so anathema to huge portions of the Dem base that it could cripple the legislative process, resulting in nothing getting done.

Democrats fought hard to cheat Bernie so they wouldn’t have to deal with things like Medicare for all. Think that same Dem establishment suddenly supports it? Lol please. Not a chance. It was used to win the election and that’s it.

Do you seriously believe: -A Republican Senate will pass it? -Trump would actually sign it Let's remember CA has a filibuster proof legislature and, after years of promising it, scrapped it once in power. Dems greatest skill is grandstanding.

Trump will not sign it. He spent the entire midterms campaigning against it as socialism and decrying it at every rally. His base would turn on him, and the Republican Senate would not pass it.

Nope - he will hold it hostage or veto to kill it — like he attempted w/ DACA or CHIP unless Dems concede building his damn god awful wall. I rarely disagree w/Bernie but I don’t think he’s got this one.

Imagine thinking that now you have half of one branch of government you can suddenly enact sweeping social programs designed to uplift vulnerable people and drastically slash capital markets by working with ghouls who pal around with nazis. #bipartisanship

I agree with Bernie. If a sensible Healthcare bill that doesn't blatantly contradict Trump's policy directives (i.e. smaller bureaucracy, focus on making big business easier, et al) comes across his desk, I think he'll sign it. Single-Payer is a stretch, but anything's possible.

I’d like to add, kudos for Bernie for using Positive Persuasion. Optimism. Working with @POTUS is how to get things done, not fighting him tooth & nail. Compromise, but with an understanding that Trump (& his voters) won the argument, thus his philosophy will be the dominant one.

Dems are the party of Wall Street now, and becoming more so as they absorb ex-GOP donors. They are not going to pass "Medicare for all", but a new resolution on transgender bathrooms or Russiagate is in the works for sure.
