Most of the twitter personalities, "journalists" and other talking heads chanting "Don't go vote", are doing so because they do not want people vote Democrat, so why not just say that instead of doing this phony apolitical, enlightened paternalism routine. (btw i mean u michael)

I’m not telling anyone not to vote. I want Dems to take Congress, so I encourage strategic voting to accomplish that.

Democrats still believe in the process. Sorry that you’re too cynical to see it.
-
I can see how much they "believe in the process" based on their reactions for the past eighteen months or so. Do I also need to point out how many calls there have been to dismantle American institutions simply because they didn't swing the way Democrats wanted?

As someone who styles himself a political commentator, it would benefit you to learn a little bit about politics. The more people vote, the more people vote Democrat. This is why Dems support expanding the right to vote and Republicans support massive voter suppression.
-
Hoo boy. Of course the DNC lawyers themselves said the primaries are a private matter, so voter suppression in case there's a challenger is totally okay THEN.

Ask them whether voting for the other/another party is better than not voting.
-
As someone who has knocked on about a thousand doors over the past couple weeks telling people to vote, I’d rather they vote for the other guy than sit out the election. Vote totals matter for the legitimacy of democracy.

Because liberals are more concerned with a vague process than any type of policy or vision.

It's almost as if they have faith in the American people.

They would be accused of telling ppl who to vote for otherwise. If it scares you so much for more ppl to vote maybe your party doesn’t have the best policies.

mostly agree, but: 1) many of the companies that offer free stuff if you show off your "I VOTED" sticker to them would rather you vote Republican. 2) "it's your duty to exercise your vote" goes with "I don't care WHAT god you believe in as long as you worship a higher power"

I have just stole #3(b) and plan on using it in every argument from now on! :-)

what a small, cynical person you have to be to so actively discourage people who are encouraging other people to participate in an election.

It's so they aren't forced to represent you. They can act like there were no promises for your vote. Oh you could have voted Republican. Thanks for voting for me, but I'm still not going to represent you.
-
They wouldn't be forced to represent you anyways. How would they represent two or more opposing views? It's is the other way around, you vote whoever you expect to represent you best.
