So you know what it's like to ride a subway or even a bus in NYC and get a thousand "public safety" messages.
You brush away the "public saftey" argument, but I don't think your take really comes to terms with how massive of an emergency would have to be taking place for this alert system to ever actually be used.

I would see it more as a way for people to see that the president is more and more playing a symbolic role. I mean obviously half the country was like Eff yeah and the other was rolling their eyes. Seems like more partisan work.
