No conservative defense of him that I’ve seen acknowledges these amply demonstrated lies. Rather than address it, the pivot is always made to media/left-wing unfairness. Fine: let’s stipulate that media/left is unfair. How does that justify blatant lying?https://twitter.com/ggreenwald/status/1046372256245587968 …

Again, even those who harbor doubts about the truth of the core allegations can't rationally deny that, at least on other matters, Brett Kavanaugh lied: deliberately and repeatedly and with a strategic motive. If you want to argue it doesn't matter, do that, but he did lie: https://twitter.com/NathanJRobinson/status/1046086609505071105 …

Here's just one example for people who refuse to read. Kavanaugh claims he "never attended a gathering like the one Ford describes." The gathering Ford describes *perfectly matches* a gathering listed on the very calendar that *Kavanaugh himself provided* as exculpatory evidence.pic.twitter.com/WjzCeHIWHx

Whatever you want to call this move: a lie, a misdirection, a misrepresentation, a mischaracterization -- it's clearly in the realm of provable deceit, and if anyone should be held to the highest possible standards for committing deceit, it's aspiring Supreme Court justices.

If you don't care about this deceit, don't think it's disqualifying, or don't think it ever should have come up in the first place: OK, make that argument. But refusing to acknowledge that his plainly-spoken words here even *constitute* deceit is coming across as sheer denialism.

As someone who meticulously documented Hillary Clinton's carefully-phrased deceptions and lies, and was told it didn't matter because of some convoluted lawyerly parsing, to be denounced by conservatives for applying the exact same rigor to Kavanaugh is amusing.

You referenced an article written by someone else and then aren't answering questions asked to you by "conservatives". Not sure what is amusing here.

It’s not amusing. It’s tiresome. One standard is applied to those in power and another is applied to everyone else. The powerful explain it with a “democrat vs. republican” dynamic so the powerless keep fighting with each other.

Be amused all you want, but whether you're willfully ignorant or totally just plain blind, to the gut feeling of the logical masses, one is plainly guilty and the other is an innocent victim! You are assuming that both used carefully-phrased deceptions and lies!

The party Ford described also included blacked out super drunk rape attempting Kavanuagh. For him to answer that question with Yes would of been a very bad move. In reality its a gotcha question because it screws him regardless how he answered.

Citing Greenwald, ex of the porn industry and sell-out to Omidyar, "human trafficking, I mean "rights" advocate", who, in turn cites the NYT that famously had Hillary winning by 95%+ on the eve of the elections isn't making your point. Try to do a little better, please.

Actually, appreciate getting diverse views. What you haven't done, like quite a few journalists, is taking the allegations and creating horrendous false ones.

Not a conservative, but I found Robinson's piece really wanting, but won't get in the weeds here. If Kavanaugh, a judge, committed perjury, Senators have a civic duty to impeach him and remove him if he is convicted after due process. It will be revealing if they don't.

It would only be "exact same" if there were EVIDENCE with Kavanaugh as there is with Clinton. Your lack of journalistic credibility has lost you followers; it's that simple.

He didn’t lie. He wasn’t disputing attending parties; he admitted doing so by submitting his calendar into the record. He never attended a party where a girl was sexually assaulted like the one described by Dr. Ford.

Just spitballing here but when he said I never been to a gathering like that. I may be a fool but I assumed he meant a gathering with the specific group of people Ford named in which Ford got sexually assaulted by him.
