Bias recognition is incredibly difficult but also incredibly important. For media especially, given their power, but also for average people who want to live optimally. (Sorry for the borderline self-help talk, but I think it's true).https://twitter.com/crypt_osho/status/1046058536134938624 …

Anyone that claims to rely solely on facts is self deluded. People pick and choose which facts are “facts” based on emotion, self interest, tribal affiliation, etc. Only when people recognize their own biases can they compensate for them.

But at least he had some “facts” to go along with his feelings
-
Emotional appeals from “the left” usually also have facts to go along with their feelings, even if you reject the feeling-based characterization of those facts.

He specifically revealed to me that he was profoundly emotionally moved by the performance. Very telling.

All the named witnesses sided with HIM not her. His emotions were genuine over being falsely accused & publicly lynched. You fell for her baby talk, contradictions, lies and her named witnesses did not back her. How many times has her story changed, 3-4. You got played.

Michael, I follow you because you rarely overgeneralize. On this topic, it seems like that is the only thing you do.
-
Some degree of generalization is necessary in making political observations!

It wasn’t an emotional appeal- Your framing is horseshit

There are no facts here, only feelings. She can't prove he did it and he can't prove he didn't. That's why the whole thing is a sham. It was an acting contest, not a search for truth.

People are moved by truth. Something we rarely hear professed on the senate floor.

Nobody is claiming he's more credible because he's angry. They're saying he has a hell of a lot more evidence, and his anger makes sense.

This is just completely backwards. Ford has literally zero evidence besides her emotional testimony. Kavanaugh has facts on his side including Ford's witnesses denying her testimony. C'mon, man.

Go back and read the facts and statements of Ford without the "I'm so cute and victimy" emotional play and you will get what happened.

I was profoundly moved as were the 4 other people watching with me. I have no 1st hand knowledge of how it feels to fight for your life & career. Especially when the assassination attempt is based on things you may have done in high school. Many can nervously relate to that.

Or, maybe, they would have believed him almost no matter what or how.
-
And maybe believing him or not didn’t really matter to them.
