I had no preexisting sympathies for him either but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t completely moved by what he said today. Empathy’s a powerful thing.

You seem irked by the fact that I experienced a strong sense of empathy toward the man and appear to have in your mind an understanding that most people who got sympathetic over his testimony were in some ways already emotionally invested in his well-being.
