Because it places the blame on Democrats and not the big bad Russians? Forces them to do actual critical analysis on their own party rather than blame the boogeyman. That's why.

Picking Tim Kaine, on a 'right/further-right' ticket; doing 71 campaign stops in the last 70 days while Trump did 106; turning down the free media of press conferences for 278 days. Hillary & her party begat Trump. Everything else is distraction & deflection & chicanery

Decisive factor was NAFTA/TPP support. You're seeing these MS river counties swing back to blue after they see Trump is full of shit. They rolled the dice on the 10% chance he'd deliver, and when it became clear he wasn't going to, we have the polling

The real story here is how campaigns used, and continue to use, massive data analytics firms to target and manipulate voters. This focus on foreign players takes our attention away from the domestic manipulation that happened and continues to be done.

The "decisive factor" in the 2016 elections was the vote for the Greens and especially the Libertarians, who took away enough votes in key states from Hillary to throw the electoral college to Trump. With US divided equally between Dem/Reps, 3d parties are king-makers/breakers.
