Yesterday @JackSmithIV was accused of offenses explicitly described as existing in a "gray area," namely "emotional abuse, manipulation, and gaslighting." Within hours he was publicly disowned by his union and fired. I'm sorry, but there is something wrong with this process.

I routinely complain about at-will employment. My complaint here is more directed at the union for publicly disowning a member mere hours after an article was published. That's the standard for jettisoning all protections?

The tweet specifically referenced allegations in "an article." If they'd deliberated about this for months, they didn't give that impression in their cursory throwing-under-the-bus announcement. Whatever policy led to that cannot be a good one.

If they wanted to simply acknowledge the story and say they were meeting to deliberate, they could've worded it much differently.
