Keep coming back to how all of this could’ve been avoided if they just nominated the conservative woman, but of course elevating Karl Rove’s protégée was simply too important.

“They would’ve smeared anyone!” Yes, there would’ve been Dem opposition to anyone Trump nominated. But I reject the premise that all potential nominees would’ve been equally susceptible to character attacks. To become Karl Rove’s lackey you need certain... qualities

When you say "susceptible to character attacks" it seems to translate to male. So, no more male Supreme Court nominees. Good or bad?

Sometimes Michael needs evidence and sometimes he just needs an association with Karl Rove.

Barrett would have lost GOP votes. I like a lot and she would have been my first choice but she would not have gotten through. Don't over play the ivy league blue blood stuff. You have to look at the person

Naive. This isn't about Kavanaugh or Barrett or Karl freaking Rove. The Democrats want to keep that seat open until they're in a position to fill it with a hard-left activist. Accordingly, any and every Trump nominee must be burned to the ground. That's the situation.

My reasoning for Trump choosing Barrett was that Kavanaugh is a Bush appointee and gives the Democrats a target-rich environment during the confirmation battle. Barrett would have been a refreshing change from the typical Ivy League-pedigreed nominees

Except none of this has to do with being a Rove lackey. False smears from 3-4 decades ago, made by progressive social activist types being propped up by Democrats and media outlets. This latest allegation is not only benign given the context of a drunk party, but probably false.
