Last thing on NY: corruption-engulfed Cuomo is handed a third term by over 30 points, Zephyr Teachout loses, Jumaane Williams loses -- yet the thrust of the coverage I'm seeing is that tonight was a big Progressive™ win. Seems highly selective, if not outright dishonest.

Aside from really high hopes, who actually thought Cynthia and Williams would have won? It's a narrative that's not going to play as well as the IDC losses.

The contention this moves corruption like Cuomo left in a serious way. or that any incumbent's loyalty shifts from their owner$ is amusing.

Problem also with some of the IDC losses is that the establishment big guns (Gillibrand, Maloney) endorsed the challengers for the most part.

Part of it is keeping people thinking working in the Dem party will eventually get you something real.

The way i see it, it's a giant mixed bag. On one hand we suffered some major losses. But we struck several great victories as well. So it wasn't a great progressive victory but it was certainly not a humiliating defeat either. A very mixed night. Which has been most elections tbh

Nixon: no political experience, no big endorsements, never run for office Cuomo: two-time incumbent, party machine in his pocket, scion of a political dynasty, personally endorsed by DNC Chair The fact she got 35% in a low-turnout primary is a freaking watershed

How did Teachout lose? She's been the most interesting NY Dem for awhile now.

Defeating the IDC is a big win for New York, but the rest are abject losses. To claim otherwise is delusional.

We're seeing different things, apparently. I'm seeing people post disappointment about losses, as well as glee about wins. Are you not seeing the posts of disappointment?
