Whatever number of devout religionists or 9/11 rememberers are able to vote who otherwise couldn't will obviously be dwarfed by moving the election to a day that nobody in NY associates with voting. As usual, this is a transparent incumbency-protecting ploy

Most polling places are schools which would be closed and a lot of extra money spent to have them open when so few bother voting in new york primaries anyway.

Pardon my lack of sophistication but is the essence of your claim about systematic "vote-depressing" is the move from Tuesday to Thursday will deter those voters who historically made plans around Tuesday well in advance of the vote & with the move to Thursday will not now vote?

Moving a traditional election day when it falls on a major religious holiday I can KINDA see -- an issue for Orthodox voters, maybe?
Because our enemies attacked us on that election day ... nah, no chance of bad optics or unintended consequences there ...

Can you explain this one? What’s so great about Tuesday as opposed to Thursday?
