Impressed that Oliver complied with the embargo with such dutiful precision

would you have broken an embargo you agreed to? that's not right by me.

Probably not depending on the circumstance but I would also take steps to not give the impression of weird corporate coordination

Gotcha, I find breaking an embargo dishonest if I agreed to it, but that's my honor not yours. Re: timing, everyone's stories dropped as soon as the embargo lifted, as I'm sure you've witnessed plenty in the past.

Again my issue is not abiding by an embargo you agreed to, it's the bizarre to-the-minute coordination, which has weird connotations and (not totally unreasonably) can breed suspicion

Shouldn’t that suspicion end, when, like, someone explains the coincidence with reasonable information?

It should end suspicion of a sinister conspiracy plot, but it should breed suspicion about media outlets coordinating with large corporation to promulgate their PR

...I’m not sure. Embargoes are much more commonplace (and respected) in the science-writing community than they are anywhere else in journalism, and everyone tends to publish NASA news simultaneously without this problem

Whom Twitter bans and why has become a contentious political issue, which is why I think coordinating with Twitter to promulgate PR about its decision-making is more 'problematic' than a science release. Not sure what journalistic value the to-the-minute synchronization ads.

Yeah I just don’t think I have the energy to keep talking about this issue, but I tbh admire your persistence in engaging with all the points people are throwing at you despite the fact that I disagree with most of your arguments. Have fun
