Which is to say: the illegal payoff that Cohen has pleaded guilty to, and which he says he carried out at the direction of the president, could’ve plausibly made a tangible electoral impact given the small margin and Trump’s tenuous grasp on certain Christian conservative voters

Trump’s infidelities were obviously well-known but it’s not crazy to think the particular egregiousness of this one might’ve moved a small % of voters. I personally spoke to conservative Christian voters (mostly women) for whom this conceivably could’ve been the final straw

And no, they wouldn’t have voted for Hillary, they would’ve stayed home! As is their right.

Doubt it. They’ve accepted all his flaws because he’s proactively fighting for them each day. He’s their pit bull to use against the radical left trying to silence them at every corner.

Lmao..so good to see how little you think of the voters from those states. Yet, you wonder why they voted like they did? One of the reasons is people like you talk about them like this. But, yes, let's just associate whatever is vile with them, that will change hearts and minds

If they wanted a puritan they would have voted for Cruz. Hillary was worse no matter what.

Don't confuse Christian's stated morality with their actual values. They value control over women's sexuality. The "sanctity of the family" nonsense is just obfuscation.

I don't even think they think that. They will just say "he's changed his way" or "those things happened before he became a Christian."

So, will those conservative Christians vote against a philandering POTUS by staying home, or prefer him over Chelsea’s claim that aborting babies is good for the economy? #

Interesting, but if this was true, why have evangelicals stayed glued to Trump even as Giuliani and others have acknowledged the reason for the payment?

At least you don't engage in rampant speculation without any factual basis. What do you think the impact on the election was of 0bama's FBI and DOJ giving Hillary a pass for her myriad crimes???https://twitter.com/mtracey/status/1032013388963106821 …

I would like to agree but the “let’s forgive and move on” card is consistently the go to excuse. Look at the Catholic Church.
