In theory, curtailing the ability of former officials to profit from their security clearances would be a worthwhile reform, but since Trump is motivated mainly by spite, this comes across as petty retribution and won’t amount to anything beyond his own personal gratification

Spite? Brennan is at the very heart of one of the most vile cases of political treachery in living memory https://consortiumnews.com/2018/08/15/trump-strikes-back-at-ringleader-brennan/ …pic.twitter.com/iDQFIYFatD

True. However, many companies when you leave a job remove your badge and make sure you don't take any company documents or anything else. Seems the same should be implemented for security clearances. If they need that person in the future, good idea to re-vet.

Or outrage from every side over all issues being brought up by the 'security revoking' could result in a review of former officials monetizing their security clearances AND taking a hard look at executive powers that have been expanding since 9-11. Long overdue.

"since Trump is motivated mainly by spite": You don't know this. What! You're a mind-reader? These people are sabotaging the @POTUS 's ability to do his job. Attributing his actions to discredit proven liars who interfere to "spite" is entirely partisan bias.

I don't care how it started, I just hope the reform of that stupid, dangerous security clearance gets done.

any budget approp or spying powers that Dems or otherwise vote for, you might have said is emboldening Trump, a unitary executive. is suggesting this is kinda ok cos it’s a good idea in general but it’s ego driven—not also affirming exec power? he’s shielding himself from critics

I am curious why you think he is spiteful. He can be a bit impulsive, but spiteful? Compare to how others in his position or other powerful positions have and do behave. Many have been calling for Brennan to lose his clearance a long time ago. Trump had good reason to do so..

Because of these people's politicization of their positions and agencies, 40% of the nation thinks Trump peed on hookers in a hotel suite that in reality does not exist. I personally wouldn't care if Trump had them summarily dispatched by firing squad.
