Journalists railing against Twitter for not regulating speech stringently enough are like classroom snitches. They'll throw a tantrum until Teacher enforces "the rules." They're really into rules. Hall monitors with a byline

One quibble I have: "crying" for equal enforcement of rules does not make someone a cop. If anything, it shows people why they should be less enthusiastic about demanding strict rule enforcement. If everyone is held to same standard, they will think twice about what to enforce.

Tattling to the authorities is the part that constitutes a cop impulse. LOOK, I FOUND THIS RULE VIOLATION! WHY WON'T SO-AND-SO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Ok. But say there is a specific rule which is constantly being applied unequally. Isn't finding a specific example of where the rule isn't being enforced the best way to prove unequal enforcement & ensure equality moving forward?

And since the rules being applied equally is the best way to stop people from clamoring for the hammer to be applied to others, they will hopefully stop playing the role of the cop when they have had it used against them enough times.

I think certain people simply have to decline to get involved in this tedious game where the end-goal is always to get the Teachers to do things to placate you. That's my position, anyway
