Manafort's lobbying activities were directly contrary to Russian interests, as court testimony has now corroborated. But this will not change "the narrative" one iota. Because the narrative has quasi-religious authority, and is therefore unfalsifiablehttps://twitter.com/aaronjmate/status/1027221287188549634 …

In court Tuesday, Rick Gates substantiated an inconvenient fact that a few of us have pointed out: Manafort was not pushing Kremlin interests in Ukraine. In trying to tie Manafort's Ukraine activities to Trump-Russia, Russiagaters allege he did Putin's bidding. Eg @chrislhayes : pic.twitter.com/ePWTWJlIzj

Nope. All wrong. Manafort worked with the side committed to Russia. Engage Ukraine was about pushing Ukraine’s image in Europe. But he was never clearly for EU membership.https://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/mar/05/ukraine-russia-relations-viktor-yanukovych …

That’s not true at all. Manafort was in the Ukraine working for Putin “ to install a Russia puppet as president there. He helped mount a similar disinformation campaign against a leading opponent with the catch phrase ‘lock her up’. And they did. Now she’s out and Manafort is in.

And the Barack Obama administration was setting up alliances with Ukrainian Nazi thugs, for the sake of the EU oligarchy.

Pre-election he ran a pro-EU platform to win the vote. Post-election he ran pro-Kremlin and pocketed even more money. Because politicians never run on one platform to win an election then switch platforms for profit/expedience....🙄

Your romantic view of your theory fails to realize the power of hedging by governments, large corporations, industries and wealthy families and individuals. Wake up! Manafort’s efforts in Ukraine were backed by Russians and Ukrainians and this would get him paid by all sides.
