It's so very telling that the people most loudly and fervently calling on @jack to control the flow of information on this platform are *journalists*

This goes well beyond Twitter. It's journalists who are leading the overall charge to empower tech officials with the authority to determine what "content" is and is not permissible

Mockingbird journalists, anyway. Google has strong ties to the 3 letter agencies, much moreso than the average American knows. https://www.newsweek.com/assange-google-not-what-it-seems-279447?amp=1 … It sort of all makes sense.

All they’re doing is slobbing the knobs of power—the very act that got them where they are. The aspersions from your ilk can be easily ignored. They clearly find hobnobbing with the aristocracy preferable to having pride and principles down in the pits with the plebs.

EXCEPT these people are NOT "journalists" they are co-opted "media spokes/script people" who are trained in God knows what NON 'J" schools ultimately co-opted by PRIVATE "Media" outlets, etc.

You mean *bloggers*? Do any of the "journalists" you speak of actually adhere to official journalistic standards for writing and ethics?

Yes, because social media challenges their ability to control the narrative. It gives a voice to those they ignore, like victims of US wars.

I think journalists above all resent media competition, so while their first preference would be no twitter at all, their second best choice would be a twitter in which only blue checkmarks have a voice. That's not surprising at all.

No. They want to give the techs the authority to execute - not really to decide. It will still be determined by the prestige media through 'marking' the target, by building a public opinion.
