I'm not going to simply declare that a bizarrely coordinated, mass expurgation of a particular figure across platforms is wholly "good" even if it might have some good effects.

Sounds roughly accurate. But in this instance the "consequences" were meted out by a handful of unduly powerful corporate officials working in secret, so I'm disinclined to view it as wholly "good" even if you're correct that pressure is what facilitated the outcome.

I'm not particularly heartened by how this particular social conflict was stratified. Again, it appeared as though some unseemly combination of prestige media, Congress, and cultural elites successfully pressured the companies into action. Not some grassroots uprising.
