The world's dumbest and/or most deceitful people have always been those who equate "I defend X's right to speak" with "I defend X and their ideas." It's the scummiest tactic there is. They did it to Chomsky when he opposed prosecuting a Holocaust denierhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-oV42OMQoE&t= …

The refusal to even think about the broader significance, precedents, etc. has been really disturbing. You are just expected celebrate that bad guy Alex Jones got what he had coming, and give thanks to the tech giants for being such benevolent protectors of the public

He. Violated. Their. Terms. Of. Service. This is not a difficult concept to wrap one's mind around.
-
Exactly!! The fact that all these platforms suddenly realized he violated their terms of service at the same time although he's been on them for years is, like, just a really big coincidence!!

Who was it that said, when you defend human freedom, you often find yourself defending scoundrels, because it is against scoundrels oppression is first aimed. I want to say Mencken

Are you trying to tell me that while you’re out here making purposely disingenuous arguments like Alex Jones got “purged from the internet”, people made disingenuous claims about you? That’s wild.

Would really feel the gravitas of this if either you or
@ggreenwald had been screaming about Facebook since November 2015, when the connection with Mercers/Cruz/CA was reported in The Guardian. -
Greenwald has been criticizing Facebook for YEARS about this stuff. https://theintercept.com/2017/12/30/facebook-says-it-is-deleting-accounts-at-the-direction-of-the-u-s-and-israeli-governments/ …

Remember when Alex Joes was arrested by undercover Youtube police, found guilty of obscenity by Facebook for his speech, then committed suicide cuz his livelihood was taken away? Oh wait, that was Lenny Bruce. Not the Alex Jones who has seen no interference from the government.
-
Alex Jones is controlled opposition.

That's logic to Binarians: if U suggest that even ONE minute might be better spent on ANYTHING besides repeating, 24/7/365, that Trump is Putin's puppet or U dare suggest that even Alex Jones hasn't done quite the damage wrought by the Iraq 'war'? U R a Trump & AJ ass-kisser!

Yeah...my debit card wouldn't work the other day. It was annoying. I finally got it fixed once customer service opened up. But...it made me realize how easy it would be for them to target any one of us...the did it to
@wikileaks already...once they do it here, they'll do it more.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Hate speech does not have to be protected by private corporate platforms. Jones can go shout his beliefs on any street corner with impunity.
-
But we should take hate speech out by LEGAL means using courts and laws. Allowing PRIVATE companies to be judges and juries is FASCISM at it's core.

People have been pushing these platforms to ban him for months and it's taken those months of hard work and advocacy to get them to listen. Yes, when one took the lead the others follow because they're corporations. But now you're implying some insidious conspiracy.
