Virtually nobody claims Alex Jones had a formal legal right to access any of the platforms he was banished from. But that's exactly the issue. He was effectively vanquished from the public square -- and there's no legal recourse, checks and balances, or oversight mechanism

Well that just sounds like another slippery slopeverse, and maybe worse. What the platforms did was decide, with shareholders in mind, that Jones was outside of penumbra of ideology entirely. Public ownership seems more likely to enforce ideological conformity.

Actual public ownership might be problematic. But regulation as a full-on public utility a la phone companies seems appropriate. Would we accept banning people from using the telephone altogether because they said offensive things on a conference call?

We have public ownership. You can buy their stock.

They are for sale to the public through the stock market. Does that make them have to include every person if they don’t want? No. Does anyone have ability to complain about it? I hope so. I hope I can too talk about it without myself being liable for damaging their image

They need to be regulated as public utilities while maintaining their private ownership status; they are mass transmission lines of data-information.

I think you are suggesting that when a business reaches a certain level of success they should be subject to increased government management. This seems to be leaning communist.

Seeing how frequently you are publicly owned I can see why you're comfortable with this.

Dude was run out of town for being a jerk. No one should be compelled to host content from a person who lies, sells fake testosterone, and allows his followers to harass people who have lost loved one in a school shooting or civil servants trying to make a better society.

Are any newspapers in the US nationalized? You think the supreme Court would ever force these companies to post Alex Jones or infowars content when they just said a baker doesn't have to make a cake for a gay wedding?
