Of course. The Pentagon has no veracious appetite 4 war. Neither does the weapons industry or partisan politicians. In fact but for the media the US history of warfare 90% of the time since day one would not have happened. 20 plus decades of slaughter in Indochina was all NYT's

Some journalists have acknowledged their failure regarding the Iraq War. So, while this is all true, I wouldn’t say there’s been zero accounting for their errors.

Of corse they do. Media is an integral part of the war machine. Its job is to spread propaganda and manufacture consent.

Vietnam shares a similar pattern. Some of the press came around though and begin questioning American involvement. But more to the point, It is accurate to say the press had a role in helping elect Donald J. Trump as POTUS, too.
