The media has played an integral role in selling every war the US has ever been involved in, and for people to take offense to that obvious statement of fact just because Trump tweeted it is absolutely pathetic

The media has also played an integral role in exposing the corruption, brutal excesses, and lack of need for our wars. They are kind of schizophrenic like that. 😝(or maybe the media has many voices some do good things, some do bad things.)

When was the last time you saw an anti-war piece on cable or network news? They haven't been whistleblowers as far as war is concerned in a really long time.

CNN with their "embedded" reporters made sure the people saw the Gulf and Iraq wars exactly the way the government wanted ypu to see them.

Discussion of the perpetual wars is BY FAR the greatest taboo in the culture of the #USA.

Was that when they did coverage of the gulf war where they pretended to be in the middle of the action but were in a safe studio miles away!😂

Selling and starting are two vastly different things. The implication was clearly that they start wars, not that they are accomplices in selling them to the public. If you can’t see that then I don’t know what to tell you.

It's called "conditioning". Through various information dissemination techniques, you gradually condition the general public to want a specific war, spreading information to make war FEEL justified, so that the majority of citizens do not oppose it. It's pre-war propaganda.

the media is the only thing or profession or whatever you want to call that keeps our country free literally! They are our check and balance.

Also worth noting: if you are a citizen journalist, and not affiliated with one of the mainstream news outlets, you are not protected by law as press, and can be punished for libel.

I don’t like Trump, and he may me right for the wrong reasons, but the mainstream media is utter shite. They decided to put profits over principle and we ended up with Russiagate and Stormy Daniels instead of covering important issues.
