Can’t wait to hear all the convoluted rationalizations for why prosecuting Assange #actually isn’t a threat to press freedom, even though WikiLeaks is indisputably responsible for some of the biggest stories of the past decadehttps://theintercept.com/2018/07/21/ecuador-will-imminently-withdraw-asylum-for-julian-assange-and-hand-him-over-to-the-uk-what-comes-next/ …

Those charges were dropped. If he were to be prosecuted by the US, it would be for “crimes” associated with his publishing activity. Please try to follow along

Were living in a historic time period. Future generations will analyze and be disgusted. They will view us as primative and regressive for allowing this to go unchallenged.

Given the direction freedom of information is taking there may not be any records of this for future generations to look back on.

That’s easy. Assange isn’t a journalist. He’s a rapist, a criminal and an enemy of the USA.... TaDa!

I’m having trouble understanding your point of view. My impression of the situation is that this information was illegally stolen from the federal government. The information contained State secrets. Publishing it damaged our country’s security and put our spies at risk.

If Julian is turned over to the UK authorities Deep State journos (especially the failing #NYT) will wring their hands but secretly lick their lips.🙁

Perhaps the ones who will rationalize it don't care so much about press freedom as they do their "freedom" to propagandize?

So the US finally either paid off big bucks to Equador or threatened them. Probably both. Why the fuck doesn't Australia DO SOMETHING to protect their citizen??? Rhetorical. I realize Oz is in the pockets of US too.

The info he published was leaked by others, not obtained by Assange himself. He’s no different than any other journalist who receives information and publishes it

Imagine you're friends with a mother who's son has spent a disproportionate part of his life in harms way & ask yourself who the barbs are going to help or hurt. It's your right to disbelieve Julian is in peril until the US has him in shackles but don't mock our high anxiety ty!
