Trump’s nonsense “correction” yesterday cuts against the no-holds-barred, never-apologize persona that he spent decades cultivating and was the basis for about 50 books and a reality TV series. All because Newt Gingrich and Neil Cavuto got mad. Kind of a cucky thing to do

Well, there used to be a standard where the president wasn't attacked when he was on foreign soil. Doing so is akin to kicking someone while they're down. it's clear his supposed supporters were just waiting to pounce.

@ScottAdamsSays reckons that Trump merely shifted the media attention on to a new thing while saying nought of substance that was different i.e. asking why wouldn't I and why would I both query the same thing.

He corrected a mistake in his use of words. It was not an apology for whatever the media made everyone believe

When was the last time you saw a sitting president make a correction and admit a mistake?

He basically spit in the eye of the IC, big brother to the MSM, and got the whole family after him. Not surprised he was forced to walk that back.

My take is that he told Putin what he wanted to hear with a wink, wink and everyone was too stupid to get it, including his own handlers, so he had to clarify

Every President has mis-spoke. All of them. The press question was a bad one that should have been ignored. The press wanted Trump to say Putin lies, to his face in public, which should never be done in diplomatic situations.

The 'would' and 'wouldn't' still reads the same. That is what I find so weird about the 'correction'. Am I wrong in thinking that?
