There's nothing unusual about American and Russian leaders flattering one another, even when relations are strained, in pursuit of mutual diplomatic objectives. You can chant "THIS IS NOT NORMAL" all you want, but sorry -- it's normalpic.twitter.com/PrYEXYw0vQ

I take your point, but Putin has engaged in a lot of problematic behavior since 2009.

So did Obama, and yet the mutual flattering continued. 2009 was also less than one year after the Russo-Georgian War, which was described near-unanimously in US media as a war of Russian aggression

Fair enough (and I do see your point), but I'd also argue that the context is a bit different now, because Obama wasn't praising Putin while simultaneously attacking the European Union. Context a bit different now.

You can find many examples of Obama criticizing aspects of EU policy, albeit in less incendiary fashion as Trump. Which is why people don't remember them.http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/barack-obama-rebuffs-criticism-of-us-intelligence-practices-a-906659.html …

Trump is NO Obama. Also, Obama had fiery times with Putin and it's no secret that Obama Foreign policy agenda was to talk to our enemies. The difference here is Trump is negating all those things by siding with Russian intelligence and not his own agency. Obama did none of that

So did Obama? Are you fucking kidding me? You're a liar, sir.
