The funny part is Trump has taken far more consequential actions that are averse to Russia's interests (expelling diplomats, sending arms to Ukraine, approving sanctions, repeatedly bombing their client state) than Germany's, but listen to US media you'd assume the exact opposite

I’m sure you can figure the diplomat thing out by yourself (hint: it was a coordinated NATO action) and would I be mad if one of US client states was bombed? Well, no, not if it means that a year later, I can have the meddling other country out of my client state’s hair forever

Being deliberately obtuse. He reluctantly did the bare minimum that could skate by pressure from Congress and the public. Didn’t sign sanctions into law that were overwhelmingly passed and just released a symbolic “list”. And he was furious that he had to. All just appearances.
