Abolishing ICE may well be the correct policy prescription, but can anyone explain why this idea never occurred to anyone before 2017? When ICE was, by most accounts, no less brazen than now?pic.twitter.com/vawUkXsTgc

People new to being exposed to political opinions on all ends of the spectrum act as if conversations didnt happen because they didnt hear them. If a tree falls in a forest and no one hears it,people were talking about abolishing Ice since at least 2006 that I personally know of

Immigration activists were calling for this during the Obama admin, many shouting not one more deportation. Some of the most fervent activists will tell you this yourself

People have been calling for ICE's abolition since it's inception 15 years ago. Not our fault you didn't notice.

Telling the general public they want to abolish ICE is going to go over as well as abolishing the police or the army. Keep this up, the midterms are going to be a blue bloodbath. Yesterday, protesters hassled ICE as they were acting on an investigation of child sex traffickers.

I have said it before and will say it again, the only reason why Americans are up in arms about what is going on in our govt is because the Trump administration is doing it. If it was a Dem, voters would be asleep for another 4-8 years.

Because before 2017, the left was lulled into complacency by the false premise that everything was ok under Obama. And the media didn’t draw attention to ICE. Now, the abuses of ICE can be blamed on Trump, as can anything that has been wrong for some time.

Not saying Trump doesn’t deserve some blame, but there were lots of systemic problems before Trump arrived on the scene. To act like the only thing wrong with America is Trump is naive and prevents holding all responsible to account. Our corrupt political system pre-dates Trump.

At the time, our president was intelligent, articulate, and charismatic (albeit a neoliberal and imperialist), so conventional liberals became morally compatible with the barbarism that occurred during his tenure (including mass murder in 7 countries).

Because the government was being run by a Democrat. The only people who really care about immigration like this are Latinos and Democrats. Latinos have known this for years but democrats would never talk bad about Obama. It all leads to partisan hackery.

same reason no one raised a peep about O-bomb-uh's bombs. 100 freaking THOUSAND bombs dropped during his Presidency (30,000 more than Bush) & complete silence. Silence from the media, silence from the voters, silence from the antiwar marchers (are there any of those left?)

The curtains have been drawn and we can thank Trump for forcing us to reflect on our ugliness as a society. We thought the masquerade ball could continue in perpetuity.
