Journalists obviously shouldn't be maliciously threatened, but let's be clear about something. The average journalist in the United States is in no way at risk of physical harm. Pretending otherwise inflates their collective ego. Try talking to commercial fishermen or roofers

TBF you can chose to become a commercial fisherman or roofer and are compensated accordingly. You are required by law to be a student. Also even if you are never shot in school, students have to live with the constant threat hanging over their heads.
-
99.999999999% of students never have to deal with that threat. Inflating it, and securitizing their schools, and subjecting them to endless fear-instilling "drills," is counter-productive.

Which is a large mental burden to ask a five year old to understand and bear.

I agree that 5-year-olds should not be asked to understand and bear it.

You realize there's a difference between accidental death and homicide, right?

Working a job that is dangerous by its nature & working a job that comes w/death threats from outside sources, that aren't related 2 your job in a 1st hand way are not comparable. How dim can you be?!? Slip & falls happen at markets but that isn't a job hazard of being a cashier.

He said threats not statistical odds of being hurt, two entirely different things.

What is the point, honestly of even making this comparison? Is it because you aren't getting enough attention? You all are really sad cases.

What an insane false equivalency. An active shooter is not the same thing as a work injury you can prevent. You are really grasping at straws here.

Also unions have OSHA standards, years of training for safety as apprentices and literally have people on site to monitor safety. Journalists usually have a couple people at the front desk. But tell me more about this...

Inherent to their job. Threats from the President and his minions should not be inherent to their job.

Are they being murdered?

Those jobs have predictable risks (weather, gravity) that the workers understand and can attempt to mitigate through safety measures. So in your mind cops being murdered just for being cops also shouldn't be an issue given King Crab fishing is more likely to result in death?

Except they signed onto that. War coverage journalists sign onto that. Covering presidential rallies, local gov, etc ISN'T expected to come with a threat to safety or life.

I’m an Arborist (8th most dangerous) and my father is a Fisherman (2nd most dangerous), and speaking for ourselves we’d like our peril not to be used as an excuse for moral cowardice in the face of threats to journalists and school children.

And that's different than a threat of being shot by someone triggered by the President.

That’s inherent to the job. Did you take any logic classes at all?
