Shouldn't journalists relish being demonized by government officials? Why would you want to be described by them as a "friend" rather than an "enemy"? Answer: because for all their self-congratulatory posturing, most journalists work to advance the interests of the state

In a democracy, the 4th Estate should hold gov accountable and be "watchdogs of the powerful" But corporate MSM are stenographers for the permanent war state with "media coverup of the #CIA’s covert support to Al Qaeda and the ISIS " https://www.globalresearch.ca/the-cia-and-the-media-50-facts-the-world-needs-to-know/5471956 …

Would you distinguish between government officials attacking specific journalists and government officials attacking "the media" as a nebulous conceptual entity? It seems like these are two different things that have different social implications and you're conflating them.

Attacking "the media" as a nebulous conceptual entity is less worrisome than attacking individual journalists. As an entity, "the media" is often disdained for legitimate reasons. Just as Congress as an entity is often disdained, but people like individual Congressmen

MSM worked gleefully with GWB & Co. to Lie us into the Iraq War. The truth was available to any msm journalist who bothered to do a bit of research. http://Antiwar.com  published the truth daily and they chose to ignore it.

Journalists are fine with being branded an enemy of the government. They're not fine with being branded an enemy of the people. And spare me the "government IS the people" bullshit. Not since Citizens United, it isn't. And not for a long time before, either.

I don't know if I agree with your politics, but you are becoming one of my favorite journalists if only because you call out both sides. There are probably more than two sides bur it's hard to break programming.

There is, I'm told, a middle ground between being someone's friend and having that person tell their extremely angry and highly armed followers that you're an enemy of their country.

Perhaps when people put a target on their back as they demonize them? Especially with a reckless irresponsible immature person elevated to an undeserved place of leadership who likes to bully with violent rhetoric when preaching to his choir no matter how unhinged some may be.

Dept of Gross Overgeneralizations: “most journalists work to advance the interests of the state.” How would you d/ “most journalists’” intent to advance the interests of the people thru the state from intent to advance the state without regard for the people?

If a journalist is an enemy of the ruling elite then they are a friend to the oppressed and should not fear us. They should rightfully fear like we all do the jackboots of authority though.
