Abolishing ICE is perfectly defensible, but what’s the underlying policy prescription? Are immigration enforcement measures ever justified? Liberal/left consensus seems to be drifting toward “no.” That’s a weighty proposition, and simply screaming it at people won’t work

I think it’s reasonable to ask, what’s your name, where are you from, etc? Get basic info. Then, how long do you plan to stay? -> give appropriate permit, and then they are on their way. I suppose if they won’t tell you who they are, it’s reasonable to say they can’t come in.
